Directions and Parking

UPDATE : Major construction coming to the CCEE’s entrance starting June 17th, 2019. While parking lots will not be affected, construction will limit traffic to a single lane which may cause slowdowns, so please consider coming a few minutes early.

Once you enter Seawell School Road, please do not rely on your GPS. Use these instructions instead.

From I-85 North (Durham and points north)

  • Follow I-85 to intersection with Hwy 15-501 South
  • At exit 174A follow Hwy 15-501 South towards Chapel Hill
  • Proceed 6.5 miles on Hwy 15-501 South until the intersection with I-40
  • Turn right onto I-40 West
  • Proceed with “From I-40 East“

From I-40 East (Raleigh and points east)

  • Take exit 266 and turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Hwy 86/Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. towards Chapel Hill.
  • Proceed 1.2 miles on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
  • Turn right at the traffic light onto Homestead Rd. Proceed one mile on Homestead Rd.
  • Turn left at the traffic light onto Seawell School Rd. Proceed 0.5 miles to the back entrance of Smith Middle School. (First driveway after High School Rd.)
  • Turn right into that entrance, where the double sign for the CCEE and Smith Middle School is located.
  • CCEE is on the left side of the parking lot.

From I-85 South/I-40 West (Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Greensboro)

  • Take I-40 East towards Raleigh
  • Take exit 266 and turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Hwy 86/Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. towards Chapel Hill.
  • Proceed 1.2 miles on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
  • Turn right at the traffic light onto Homestead Rd. Proceed one mile on Homestead Rd.
  • Turn left at the traffic light onto Seawell School Rd. Proceed 0.5 miles to the back entrance of Smith Middle School. (First driveway after High School Rd.)
  • Turn right into that entrance, where the double sign for the CCEE and Smith Middle School is located.
  • CCEE is on the left side of the parking lot.

From the South (Pittsboro and points south-west)

  • Take Hwy 15-501 and Smith Level Rd., Hwy 54, or Old Greensboro Rd. towards Carrboro
  • From downtown Carrboro take North Greensboro St.
  • Turn right onto Estes Dr. and proceed 1 mile.
  • At the traffic light, turn left onto Seawell School Rd.
  • After you have crossed the railroad, proceed 0.8 miles to the third driveway on the left.
  • Turn left into that entrance, where the double sign for the CCEE and Smith Middle School is located.
  • CCEE is on the left side of the parking lot.

From Downtown Chapel Hill and UNC Campus

  • From the intersection of Columbia St. and Franklin St. go north 1.5 miles on North Columbia St., which will turn into Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
  • Turn left at the traffic light onto Estes Rd., proceed 0.6 miles on Estes Rd.
  • Turn right at the traffic light onto Seawell School Rd.
  • After you have crossed the railroad, proceed 0.8 miles to the third driveway on the left.
  • Turn left into that entrance, where the double sign for the CCEE and Smith Middle School is located.
  • CCEE is on the left side of the parking lot.

Parking

Free parking is available in front of CCEE. Overflow parking is available in the middle school lots. Please do not park along the curb leading into the parking areas or in front of the dumpsters.

  • When entering the parking lot at the CCEE, please always follow the posted traffic flow. When driving towards the CCEE everybody MUST follow the counter-clockwise direction of traffic. Do not ever make the immediate left turn, which would take you directly to the CCEE wing.
  • If the driveway to the CCEE lot is blocked by school buses or orange cones, please use one of the two parking lots further away from the CCEE entrance.
  • Never park at the curbs marked with a yellow line as this will block outgoing bus or truck traffic and may result in damaging your car.
